Shravan Parsi is an entrepreneur and innovator with a background in the diverse fields of real estate investing and pharmaceutical research. His experience as a pharmaceutical scientist drives his systematic approach to multifamily and commercial real estate investing. Shravan has been involved in Texas real estate since 2003 and acquired 21 apartment complexes and several commercial properties, by co-investing with private equity groups, family offices, high-networth individuals and accredited investors.
Shravan is the CEO & Founder of American Ventures. With a forecasted pipeline of $250 million in planned acquisitions for 2019, American Ventures is positioned for aggressive growth. American Ventures offers private equity firms, family offices and accredited investors access to quality multifamily and commercial real estate investment opportunities. Shravan’s unique blend of scientific, management, and real estate experience informs American Venture’s strategic business vision.
Born in India, Shravan developed a life-long interest in business and investing from watching his father, a medical doctor, invest in real estate. He made his first real estate investment in Texas in 2003. He holds a master’s degree from St. John’s University in New York and a bachelor’s degree from Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
Shravan’s first book, The Science of the Deal: The DNA of Multifamily and Commercial Real Estate Investing, published by Forbes Books, is coming out in July, 2019. Forbes is considered to be the market leader in business print and digital media. The Austin American Statesman featured Shravan as a value investor for his CRE investment adjacent to the Formula 1 Race Track prior to the inaugural US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. He is a featured speaker at Texas CEO Magazine’s Enlightened Speaker Series event. Shravan is a member of Tiger 21 and Central Texas Angel Network (CTAN) and a past member of Entrepreneurs Org (EO).
VP of Investments
Jake is the Vice President of Investments for American Ventures, LLC, responsible for oversight of all acquisitions and asset management activities.
Prior to joining American Ventures, Jake was Director of Operations for Roscoe Properties, overseeing all asset and construction management activities for a portfolio of 5,000+ multifamily units, providing direction to the property management teams, and handling all communication and reporting duties for lenders and institutional equity partners. During this time, he completed capital projects in excess of $100M.
Prior to Roscoe, Jake was a Vice President for Buffington Capital Holdings, overseeing the acquisition and development of a portfolio of land assets and subsequent homebuilding activities. During his time with BCH, Jake created a set of standardized asset management reports to track and improve the performance of a $125M portfolio of land assets, as well as underwriting the start-up operations of the homebuilding division, which was projected to deliver 6,000+ homes and $1.5B in revenues.
Jake earned a finance degree from St. Edward’s University and an MBA with a specialization in real estate finance from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. While at McCombs, Jake was a Portfolio Manager for the REIT Fund, responsible for analyzing and trading activities for the fund’s investments.
Director of Acquisitions
With over a decade of commercial real estate experience, George Jalil has a proven track record for acquisitions and dispositions successes across full-cycle multifamily transactions, distressed debt, site analysis and land, and 1031 exchanges. George’s background is a diverse mix of finance and commercial real estate.
As a member of the American Ventures team, George is responsible for growing its Multifamily portfolio through the acquisition of value-add properties throughout the Southern United States. This responsibility encompasses sourcing deals, capital structuring, underwriting, due diligence, and transaction management.
Previously, George has served as the Vice President of Capital Markets for Pillar Income Asset Management and was directly responsible for the operation and placement of debt across a portfolio valuing over $2B in asset value.
George’s success at NAPA Ventures was the cornerstone of his career. He managed property acquisitions, served as primary liaison for institutional equity and worked closely with the Principals as an advisor on corporate, finance and operating initiatives. While at NAPA Ventures, George acquired $185M in value-add multifamily real estate, spanning 2,454 units across 13 properties. George more than doubled the size of NAPA Venture’s portfolio during his time there.
George received a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor in Business Administration, with a focus on International Business from Florida International University. Additionally, George is fluent in Spanish.
Director of Operations
As Director of Operations for American Ventures, Mark oversees the development of systems, defines workflows, and drives value within team and across the entire portfolio.
For over 15 years, Mark Hansen developed disciplined operational skill sets within the United States Army and continues to develop his competencies within multifamily value-add shops.
Prior to joining American Ventures, Mark assisted in the development of his former company NAPA Ventures, at the time of hire owning $75 million under ownership to just over $325 million over a 3-year span. His contributions, in part, were the workflow systems, financial analysis and personnel development processes that he implemented which allowed for such a hyper focused growth.
As a US military-operations veteran, he is no stranger to executing long- and short-term strategies. While he was with the US Army, he developed the ability to communicate across many different platforms, and decide and direct priorities to his team.
When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children. Adventure traveling, both short and long stints of any variety, is pleasurable for him. A good whiskey and a grilled/smoked anything is his preference.
